Venezuela: tirs autour du Palais présidentiel à Caracas, situation sous contrôle (témoins et source proche du pouvoir)
Gunfire was heard around the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas on Monday, January 5, around 8:00 PM (00:00 GMT Tuesday), according to several witnesses contacted by AFP, but the shooting stopped and the situation was under control, according to a source close to the government who mentioned drone flights.
According to this source, unidentified drones flew near the palace, triggering a firefight by security forces. This incident occurred just over two days after the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by US troops following a spectacular attack on the capital.
Videos circulating on social media show what appear to be tracer rounds flying into the sky toward an unseen target. The incident mobilized a large number of law enforcement officers around the palace, according to the videos.
The Ministry of Communication did not respond to AFP's calls to confirm the facts.
