Voici ce que Trump envisagerait de proposer à Poutine en échange d’un cessez-le-feu en Ukraine
US President Donald Trump plans to propose a mining deal to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during their meeting in Alaska this Friday. He hopes to persuade him to approve a ceasefire in Ukraine. This is according to the British newspaper The Telegraph, citing a source close to the negotiations.
Trump would like to give Putin access not only to the rare minerals found in the Ukrainian regions he currently occupies, but also to those found in Alaska. Ukraine is estimated to hold about 10% of the world's lithium reserves, which are used to make batteries. Two of the largest lithium mines are located in regions occupied by Russia.
Alaska
In Alaska, these are precious raw materials located in the Bering Strait, the stretch of sea separating Russia from Alaska and containing significant oil and gas reserves. These represent 13% of all global oil reserves.
In addition, Trump also wants to lift some sanctions against the Russian aircraft industry. He would like to remove the ban on exporting parts and equipment needed to maintain Russian aircraft. This could, in particular, allow the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing to supply parts to Russia.
According to the Telegraph's source, these offers are part of a series of proposals likely to bring Putin money. Trump believes this could convince Putin to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
