In the Yvelines department, a general practitioner in his sixties has been in police custody since Monday, May 4, CNEWS learned from the Versailles prosecutor's office. He is accused of rape and sexual assault against female patients between 2002 and 2022.

A case reminiscent of previous ones. The Versailles prosecutor's office (Yvelines) confirmed to CNEWS on Tuesday, May 5, that a general practitioner in his sixties was taken into custody on Monday, May 4, for "rape and aggravated sexual assault" committed "in the course of his professional practice."

This custody, still ongoing as of Tuesday, is part of an investigation opened by the Versailles public prosecutor's office and entrusted to the Yvelines Territorial Crime Division (DCT). The case was revealed by our colleagues at BFMTV. The man in his sixties is accused of several aggravated sexual assaults and rapes committed against several patients between 2002 and 2022, a period of 20 years.

According to our colleagues, at least five women have come forward with allegations. However, the Versailles prosecutor's office has not confirmed this information, potentially to avoid jeopardizing the ongoing investigation.

This case is reminiscent of other similar incidents that have occurred in the medical field.

In recent years, several cases of sexual assault and rape occurring in the medical field have been recorded.

In December 2024, Bassam El Absi, a former radiologist from Gironde, was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Charente Court of Appeal for rape and sexual assault against eight women. In the first instance, in February 2023, he had received a 17-year sentence.

Even more recently, according to Le Parisien, a 66-year-old doctor from Sarcelles was sentenced in March 2026 to 14 years in prison for raping a patient and sexually assaulting 14 others.
