Affaire PTN : 1,5 milliard FCFA envolé, Ismaila Timbo et Bassirou Abdou Ba derrière les barreaux
There's been some news regarding the development contract for the Diamniadio Digital Technology Park (PTN) site. The accused, charged with embezzlement of public funds, complicity, and money laundering, have been given their fate by the investigating judge of the third chamber of the financial judicial pool.
According to Seneweb, entrepreneur Amy Samakhé and Director of General Administration (DAG), Hélène Ndouckité Helndou Diouf, were released under judicial supervision after posting bail. However, Administrative and Financial Director (DAF), Ismaïla Timbo, and Coordinator Bassirou Abdou Ba, were not granted the same leniency. Both men were remanded in custody.
The case concerns breaches in the execution of a public contract estimated at 1.476 billion CFA francs, relating to the development of the site that was to house the Diamniadio PTN. During her hearing, Amy Samakhé vigorously contested the accusations. She claims to have carried out the work entirely thanks to personal pre-financing, specifying that she had initially refused the contract on the grounds that the State already owed her money.
She claims that it was only after insistence from the authorities, who assured her that the funds came from private resources outside the ministerial budget, that she agreed to undertake the work. Despite her arguments, the contractor provided a real guarantee.
