Affaire Aïssatou Diop Fall : Seydi Gassama monte au créneau
Human rights defender Seydi Gassama called for calm in the case involving journalist Aïssatou Diop Fall, believing that the public apology she offered should put an end to any desire for legal action.
Responding to the debate sparked by the journalist's statements, Seydi Gassama recalled that the public sphere is often marked by passionate stances that can lead to excesses of language or excesses on the part of the various actors.
“Public debate is highly charged and all actors can make mistakes. Aïssatou Diop Fall has offered public apologies to the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly. There is no reason to initiate legal proceedings against her,” he stressed.
According to him, Aïssatou Diop Fall has already acted responsibly by publicly apologizing to the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly. Under these circumstances, he believes there is no valid reason to initiate legal proceedings against her.
With this stance, Seydi Gassama invites the authorities and public opinion to favour the path of dialogue, forgiveness and appeasement, in a context where tensions around the political and media debate remain particularly high.
