Assemblée nationale : Guy Marius Sagna érige l'article 319 en rempart contre « l'empoisonnement culturel »

MP Guy Marius Sagna spoke in the chamber this Wednesday, as part of the examination of the bill reforming article 319. In the presence of the Minister of the Interior Bamba Cissé, he defended the text while responding strongly to the criticisms made by some opposition MPs.

Addressing the minister directly, the elected official asked that his thanks be conveyed to Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko for introducing to the National Assembly a bill which he considers a vital defense of the principles and values of Senegal.

"Cultural self-defense"

In his address, Guy Marius Sagna placed the debate within the broader context of the struggle against neocolonialism and imperialism, particularly in the cultural sphere. According to him, the text under consideration constitutes a firm response to attempts at external influence on African societal values.

The MP asserted that certain values promoted internationally, particularly those related to LGBTQ issues, are being disseminated through foreign media, organizations, or funding. He described this phenomenon as "cultural poison" and argued that the bill represented, in his words, a form of "cultural self-defense."

Sovereignty and political leadership

During his speech, the elected official also made a point of recalling the central role of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, whom he presented as the "sole leader of the parliamentary majority" of the PASTEF party.

Beyond the text under discussion, Guy Marius Sagna raised other major issues related to national sovereignty. He notably cited the end of the French military presence in Senegal, the need to shed light on the events at the Thiaroye camp, and the question of the CFA franc, which he described as a "neo-colonial relic" destined, in his view, to disappear.

According to the MP, these different themes are part of the same overall dynamic aimed at strengthening Senegal's political, economic and cultural sovereignty in the face of external influences.
