Criminalisation du détournement, saisie de biens... : Ces lois que prépare Maimouna Bousso
The elected First Secretary of the National Assembly, Maïmouna Bousso, has announced a major legislative offensive aimed at toughening the fight against corruption and the embezzlement of public funds. The Pastef/Les Patriotes MP is preparing a series of radical bills that she intends to submit to her parliamentary group.
These texts are mainly aimed at putting an end to what she perceives as "leniency" of the judicial system in financial cases.
Maïmouna Bousso took to her Facebook page to outline the broad outlines of her reform plans. She says she opposes the "almost systematic distribution of warrants for placement under judicial supervision or electronic surveillance" for people prosecuted for embezzlement. According to her, the flexibility of certain decisions "undermines the credibility of the fight against impunity and fuels a perception of social injustice."
She clearly defined her legislative objectives: "Rest assured that, as soon as the parliamentary session resumes, I will submit bills to my parliamentary group (Pastef/Les Patriotes), which will assess their relevance. The objective: to criminalize the embezzlement of public funds, but above all to allow the automatic seizure of any property belonging to anyone who flees or refuses to answer to justice."
