Tribunal de Dakar : Les étudiants placés sous contrôle judiciaire
They are free. Students Demba Ka, Waly Faye, and Bathie Fall of Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) appeared before the senior investigating judge at the Dakar court after two hearings before the prosecutor's office. According to Seneweb, the investigating magistrate issued an order contrary to the public prosecutor's request for their detention.
The trio was assisted by a team of lawyers comprised of Sally Mamadou Thiam, Ciré Clédor Ly, Alioune Badara Fall, Mame Coumba Kane, Aboubacry Barro, and Saliou Fall. The students are being prosecuted on charges of violence and assault, destruction of public property, rebellion and contempt of court, acts likely to compromise public safety, possession of weapons without authorization, and participation in an undeclared demonstration. A judicial investigation is underway.
All presidents of student associations at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, the accused were arrested by the Urban Security force in connection with the demonstrations that took place on February 9 at Ucad.
