While Dame Amar's arrest in a drug case has sparked a wave of comments on social media and in some media outlets, one of his close friends wanted to share his story to highlight another side of the man, far from the controversy.
"Stunned" by hasty judgments
In his testimony collected by Seneweb, this friend confided that he was "stunned" by the violence of some of the remarks aimed at Dame Amar. According to him, many prefer to focus on the accusations and rumors, "often tinged with hatred," rather than highlight other aspects of her personality.
A pious and generous man
Pape Dione describes a man attached to Fayda Niassène, performing his prayers regularly and practicing dawaatou-l-lansim as well as wassifa. "His rosary never leaves him," he says, also highlighting his daily donations to talibés and beggars.
Dame Amar would also have the habit of paying her respects almost every day at the cemetery, marked by the successive loss of her mother, her father and her older brother.
The gray areas
While he acknowledges that Dame Amar's name has been cited in drug scandals in the past, the witness believes that the recent case should not be exaggerated. According to him, the alleged "trap party" mentioned in some media reports does not correspond to reality: only "two varieties of Indian hemp" were allegedly found. He specifies that, that evening, the businessman was at home with his bodyguard, a Moroccan friend, his regular masseur, and his driver who arrived later.
Between rumors and reality
The close friend regrets that certain broadcasts and publications have relayed "unverified, sometimes even false, information." He also says that he was supposed to have lunch that day at Dame Amar's house, but that rain and traffic jams prevented him from doing so.
A call for restraint
In conclusion, Pape Dione reminds us that "being someone's child is not a crime" and invites public opinion to judge Dame Amar through her entire journey: "He is not only the man about whom controversies speak. He is also the one who prays, helps, shares and supports in silence."
