Mort de Abdoulaye Bâ : le procureur de la République va...
According to Les Échos, the public prosecutor at the Dakar High Court will hold a press conference this Tuesday. On the agenda: the investigation into the demonstrations at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) and the death of student Abdoulaye Bâ. "Faced with widespread disinformation and attacks from all sides, Ibrahima Ndoye has decided to share his side of the story at a press conference," the newspaper announced in its Monday edition.
The Dakar prosecutor's office is being targeted by the Association of Medical Students and the Collective of Doctors, Pharmacists, and Dental Surgeons in Specialization in Senegal. These two groups criticize him for stating in a press release that the evidence in the investigation into the death of Abdoualye Bâ "does not corroborate the rumors of physical violence inflicted on the victim."
The medical students' association says it is "deeply shocked" by the prosecutor's statement, now that their fellow student has been beaten to death by police during their intervention on campus. Less assertive, members of the Collective of Doctors, Pharmacists, and Dentists point out that the autopsy findings "clearly point to the existence of a major traumatic event," ruling out the possibility of natural death or suicide.
