Deux ex-belles-sœurs s’affrontent dans une boîte de nuit : Trois mois de prison avec sursis

A family quarrel escalated during a night of revelry. Two saleswomen, A. Coly and B. Barry, former sisters-in-law, appeared in court after a violent altercation in a nightclub. The impromptu encounter between the two women descended into chaos, marked by hostile stares, thrown glasses, and mutual accusations. B. Barry was given 13 days of sick leave, while A. Coly received five.

Tried in the Mbour court, they tried to downplay the events. "B. Barry is my ex-sister-in-law. She looked at me, she poured some water on me. There was no contact. Before things could get physical, we were separated," according to A. Coly.

This prompted the judge to question the relevance of the medical certificate submitted to the file. "Why then produce one certificate of incapacity for work (ITT) of 5 days and another of 13 days?", he asked.

Faced with these conflicting versions, the prosecutor asked them: "Are you the ones not telling the truth, or did the doctors write the certificates?"

He continued by issuing a stern reprimand: "As mothers, you're putting on a show in a nightclub. You can get drunk, that's your right, but you don't have to cause chaos. Is this the kind of life you want to instill in your children? I pity them. Pull yourselves together and set a good example for them."

The court found both defendants guilty and sentenced them to three months' imprisonment, suspended. The judge specified that this was a warning sentence intended to remind them of their responsibilities.
