Escroquerie portant sur plus de 400 millions F CFA : Comment le marabout Serigne Bara Diop aurait grugé un immigré
It's a story worthy of a movie. Marabout Serigne Bara Diop, based in Louga, is accused of orchestrating a monumental scam against immigrant Fallou Wade. The damages are estimated at 400 million CFA francs. The plaintiff says he met the marabout on Facebook, through advertisements in which he proclaimed himself a "spiritual master" capable of predicting the future. Attracted, he contacted him for a clairvoyance session.
But little by little, the relationship grew beyond a simple consultation. "I considered him like a father," the immigrant confided. A blind trust that would cost him all his savings.
After more than ten years abroad, Fallou Wade decided to return home. He asked Serigne Bara Diop to buy him a plot of land in Yoff and a luxury car. He sent him more than 400 million CFA francs in several installments, not counting the three million he had been giving him every week.
To reassure his "protégé," Serigne Bara Diop sent him a video of a beautiful house already built, making him believe he had purchased it in his name. The same goes for the car. But it was all a deception.
Realizing the scam, Fallou Wade contacted the Special Cybersecurity Division (DSC), which opened an investigation.
