The parliamentarian therefore welcomes the minister's decision to open an investigation, while hoping for concrete and transparent follow-up to the case. The deputy recalled that he had already contacted the same minister on December 26, 2024, regarding alleged embezzlement at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Ziguinchor, as well as the port of Ziguinchor.
According to him, between 2014 and 2024, more than 150 million CFA francs were allegedly paid to the Kandiandoumagne Hotel, then managed by the president of the Chamber of Commerce himself. Meanwhile, more than half of the staff were reportedly living in precarious conditions, and the Chamber owed 30 million CFA francs to IPRES (the Senegalese Social Security Institute) and the Social Security Fund.
In January 2025, the minister announced the dispatch of an inspection mission to Ziguinchor. However, eleven months later, the member of parliament claims to have received no official report. Faced with this administrative delay, the MP once again questioned the minister: "Are you trying to protect the president of the Chamber of Commerce at the expense of the people of Ziguinchor, the workers, and the interests of Senegal?"
With this new statement, Guy Marius Sagna reaffirms his commitment to transparency in public management and accountability, both at the national and local levels.
