Moussa Bocar Thiam did not appear before the High Court of Justice's investigating committee on Wednesday. The former Minister of Communication, Telecommunications, and Digital Affairs under Macky Sall was scheduled to make his initial appearance on charges of embezzlement of public funds, criminal conspiracy, and money laundering, in connection with the investigation into the concession of the Senegal Connect Park digital technology park.

The lawyer reportedly apologized in writing to the chairman of the investigating committee, Abdoulaye Bâle, president of the Court of Appeal. Les Échos, which broke the story, reports that the former minister, who is said to be in Qatar, cited in his letter the "border closures" in the Middle East due to the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The newspaper understands that Judge Bâ has grasped the reason given and that "the hearing could finally take place sometime in April." However, the mayor of Ourossogui is preparing his defense: Les Échos reports that he has hired lawyers Pape Laïty Ndiaye and Baboucar Cissé to handle his case.

Moussa Bocar Thiam is accused of embezzling 1,476,482,766 CFA francs in connection with the sale of the Senegal Connect Park operating contract to Ewans Assets. The former minister denies the accusations.

Si tu ne juge pas nécessaire de venir aux funérailles de ta maman je ne vois pas pourquoi tu te présentes au tribunal. ILS ont tous pris la poudre d'escampette pour éviter la justice sénégalaise et ceci est à mon avis une preuve de culpabilité.

@Doudou : SPOT ON comme disent les anglophones, tu as bien décrit son état d'esprit. MOUSSA BOCAR THIAM NE VIENDRA PAS. Daw na raw, comme Mame Mbaye Niang, Mamour Diallo, Doudou Ka, Madiambal Diagne, Mamadou Gueye (ex-Directeur des impots) et d'autres moins connus. Après les tentatives avortées de Mansour Faye, Cheikh Issa Sall (CDC) et Lat Diop.

@Ngor Jegaan : Pour quoi as-tu fais l'impasse sur le Parrain, Macky Sall? Lui aussi daw na ba raw! Moussa Bocar Thiam est pourtant moins responsable que lui.
