Italie : son procès suspendu, un migrant sénégalais se déclare mineur mais ...

A young Senegalese man, arrested in Turin for drug trafficking, has had his trial suspended due to doubts about his age, reports Les Échos in its Tuesday edition. Having arrived in Italy after a long migration journey and lacking official documents, his legal fate now depends on his status: he could be tried as a minor or an adult.

According to his statements, he was born in 2008 and has been living in Italy for three years without a fixed address. A radiological examination suggested he is an adult, the newspaper reports. However, as reported by the same source, Judge Giulia Maccari deemed these results insufficient and ordered further expert assessments, leading to the postponement of the hearing.

In the absence of official documents, Italian law mandates a full forensic medical examination. This decision is crucial, according to Les Échos: if his minority is confirmed, he will fall under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court and benefit from reduced sentences; if he is recognized as an adult, he will be tried in the regular courts with harsher penalties.

Une honte pour le pays de femmes comme Aline Sitoé Diatta et d'hommes comme Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.
