Former paratrooper AK Sarr, 46, appeared before the Criminal Chamber on Tuesday for the murder of his landlord and friend, G. Goudiaby, which occurred in July 2019 in Fass Mbao, reports L'Observateur, which attended the hearing.
The autopsy described a veritable massacre: perforated lungs, an open abdomen, and massive hemorrhaging, according to the same source. The newspaper reports that in court, the accused chilled the audience by claiming he had simply "neutralized" the man he once considered his brother. He cited a litany of grievances: unpaid bills, suspected burglaries, and, even more seriously, accusations of molesting his underage daughter, the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM) enumerates.
The former soldier's defense oscillates between the theory of self-defense and that of cold premeditation. While AK Sarr claims to have "retaliated" during an altercation, the investigation reveals a completely different scenario: he had previously taken his children to safety at his mother-in-law's house before returning to the scene, armed with a "508" type knife.
When questioned about the relentless attack he displayed despite having no injuries, he replied to the judge: "I felt like I was in a trench."
The defendant's mental health was central to the proceedings. His brother described a man broken by parachute jumps and his missions in Casamance, having undergone several stays in psychiatric hospitals. The defense argued post-traumatic stress disorder, explaining that his incoherent statements and lack of remorse were the marks of a "war that never left him."
Faced with the defendant's erratic behavior, the prosecutor requested a thorough medical examination, expressing surprise at the lack of a prior psychiatric report. The verdict hinges on this examination: the Criminal Chamber will render its decision on February 3rd, concludes the Gfm headline.
