«Justice par force»: Guy Marius Sagna interpelle l’État sur la lenteur des procédures judiciaires
Majority MP Guy Marius Sagna returned to the case of Cheikh Wade, who was killed on March 8, 2021, during the protests that shook the country. In a statement shared on his social media, the Pastef MP denounced the slow pace of legal proceedings in this case and other cases related to political violence.
"Six times, in the National Assembly, I hammered home to the Minister of Justice: justice by force!" recalled Mr. Sagna, estimating that four years after the events, the victims' families are still waiting for "light, truth and justice."
Taking the example of Cheikh Wade, whom he described as a "child shield," the MP called on the state to address the lack of concrete results in the investigations. "What if it was your son, your husband, your brother…?" he asked, before demanding greater speed from the Senegalese justice system.
The majority representative was keen to clarify that his approach was not intended to "put pressure on the judges," but rather to encourage rapid progress in proceedings. "Outside the chamber, yesterday I was alongside those who are saying the same thing as me: justice by force!" concluded Guy Marius Sagna.
