Suite judiciaire du rapport sur la gestion des 1000 milliards du Fonds force Covid : « Je n’ai aucune inquiétude » (Diouf Sarr(
“I am not worried about the legal proceedings concerning the 1 trillion CFA franc report from the COVID-19 Relief Fund,” declared Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr. A guest on the “Objection” program this Sunday on Sud FM, the former Minister of Health sees no reason to be concerned about his management of the funds allocated to the COVID-19 pandemic response.
According to him, "in the 180 pages of the Court of Auditors' report, there's nothing to worry about." "There's been so much noise about this case, but I'm speaking quietly about it. To those who think I should be heard on this matter, I'll let them think what they want," he added.
His ministry managed 4.5% of the COVID-19 Relief Fund, amounting to 45 billion CFA francs allocated for the efficient care of patients. Many accusations were leveled at the time, notably regarding the lack of transparency in awarding contracts for equipment for epidemic treatment centers (ETCs), and the significant strain observed in oxygen distribution, among other grievances.
In response to these allegations, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr points to the media's exploitation of the Court of Auditors' report, which has caused confusion. According to him, "there has been a misunderstanding of what was written by the Court of Auditors."
“The Court provided guidance and recommendations for greater efficiency in pandemic management; this does not mean that it identified financial wrongdoing. At no point was there any question of identifying financial irregularities concerning the Ministry of Health,” insists Mr. Sarr, who points out that Senegal was ranked 2nd in the world for its technical management of the pandemic by the Foreign Office , “a fairly credible organization in the United States.”
