In a society where youth no longer fears authority, wisdom, or even age, moral compasses are crumbling. F. Thiaw, in his twenties, deliberately assaulted AA Coulibaly, 42 years his senior. He caused Coulibaly to be unable to work for 10 days. His act sadly illustrates the disappearance of respect for elders.

Indeed, in their neighborhood, his name often comes up in the midst of tensions, but this time, F. Thiaw has crossed the line. Charged with assaulting his neighbor, AA Coulibaly, he will have to wait until next year to learn his fate, with the verdict in his trial expected on January 1, 2026.

According to the complainant, the incident erupted when she told F. Thiaw to stop sending his grandchildren to buy him cigarettes. "I told him to stop sending my grandchildren on these kinds of errands. He replied: 'Yow rek amo fi ndeyou seutt'," the complainant explained.

A heated exchange ensued between F. Thiaw and the woman. His friends tried to calm him down, but to no avail. "I told him: if you keep using Indian hemp, you'll never stop insulting us. He hit me twice and blood spurted out," AA Coulibaly recounted in court.

In the neighborhood, F. Thiaw is described as a young man who sows fear and discord. These sentiments are echoed by the complainant, who angrily states: "If this kid were to die, no one in our neighborhood would pray for the repose of his soul."

The prosecutor's indictment was harsh, clearly exasperated by the behavior of several young people on trial. Between insolence, violence, and repeated transgressions, the case revealed a generational divide that worried the prosecutor.

"Can this society aspire to development with such a youth? Do you think everything can be solved through violence? With such behavior, in 100 years, you will have nothing. You won't even build a room. How can people have hope in you? If you have no pity for someone who could be your grandmother, then justice will have no pity for you," the prosecutor asserted, requesting a six-month prison sentence.

F. Thiaw will learn his fate on January 1, 2026. He will have time to reflect on the various actions he takes on a daily basis.
