Affaire Mor Mbaye Cissé (Seneweb) : Le procès renvoyé au 6 juillet
Scheduled for this Monday at the Dakar court for flagrant offenses, the trial of Seneweb journalist Mor Mbaye Cissé has been postponed to July 6.
As a reminder, the Seneweb journalist is being prosecuted for spreading false news after reporting the theft of 100 million CFA francs and the arrest of the son of a magistrate working in the financial judicial unit. The public prosecutor's office, which initiated the investigation on its own motion, criticized the journalist for revealing the statements made by the young man to investigators. The young man had confessed to stealing the money from his father's wardrobe. The subsequent investigation revealed that the magistrate's son was part of an organized gang that stole 100 million CFA francs from a man, despite his explanations. Nevertheless, the public prosecutor's office decided to prosecute the Seneweb journalist for revealing the statements that the young man had indeed made.
During his first court appearance after being taken into custody and brought before a judge (before being granted provisional release), journalist Mor Mbaye Cissé denied the charges against him. He will have another opportunity to defend himself before the judge on July 6.
