Affaire ONAS : Vicas contre-attaque
Vicas has reignited its legal battle with the former director general of ONAS, Cheikh Dieng. According to L'Observateur, the company filed an appeal last Friday after losing its initial defamation case related to statements made by the former ONAS head regarding the dredging of the catchment area basin.
During a press conference, the same source recalls, Cheikh Dieng stated that the work carried out in 2021 had not been completed according to the commitments made and alluded to an alleged sharing of site resources between company officials and the agents responsible for monitoring the project. Vicas deemed these accusations defamatory.
However, during his hearing, Cheikh Dieng denied making these remarks. Lacking video recordings of the press conference in the case file, the court deemed the evidence insufficient to establish the alleged facts and dismissed the complaint. Refusing this decision, Vicas appealed to the Court of Appeal, thus opening a new legal phase in this case, the newspaper of the Future Media Group adds.
