Sécurisation du Magal: 253 individus interpellés dont 95 déférés par la police

The National Police General Directorate welcomes the success of its operations during the 131st edition of the Grand Magal of Touba. In a press release sent to Seneweb by its communications division this Saturday, August 17, 2025, the institution highlights the success of its assistance and protection mission thanks to the mobilization of 4,606 police officers and the use of modern surveillance technologies.

A large-scale security system

For this edition of the pilgrimage, the National Police deployed an impressive force combining plainclothes and uniformed officers. This exceptional contingent was reinforced by heavy vehicles and modern technical means, including surveillance cameras and drones, allowing for more effective surveillance and better response to incidents.

253 arrests, 95 presentations to the Public Prosecutor's Office

The efforts made resulted in the arrest of 253 individuals for various offenses. Of this total, 95 people were brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office, demonstrating the seriousness of the alleged facts and the thoroughness of the investigative work carried out by the competent services.

Significant drug seizures

In the fight against drug trafficking, specialist services have made significant seizures:

Indian hemp:

- 293 cones, 4.130 kg and 23 joints

Synthetic drugs:

- 5 ecstasy pills and 20 ecstasy/MDMA pills

Hard drugs:

- 1 piece of hashish, 7 grams of skunk, 11 kepas of kush

Cellulosic product:

- 140 bottles seized

Road toll: 65 accidents, 6 deaths

On the roads, operations resulted in the seizure of 1,117 items and the impounding of 42 vehicles and 110 motorcycles. Police also collected 1,887,000 CFA francs in fixed fines.

Unfortunately, 65 traffic accidents were recorded, resulting in 6 deaths, 34 bodily injuries, and 25 property damages. In the face of these human losses, the National Police bows to the memory of the victims, offers its sincere condolences to the bereaved families, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.

A remarkable humanitarian mission

As part of its aid and assistance mission, the humanitarian dimension was marked by the installation of two medical posts of the National Police medical service, which provided:

- 453 consultations

- 109 observations

- 27 emergencies handled on site

- 10 emergencies referred to specialized structures

54 lost children found

As part of their social missions, the outposts helped find 54 lost children. Of these, 26 were returned to their families and 28 were entrusted to child services, including AEMO (Open Environment Educational Action).
