Supporters sénégalais détenus au Maroc : Me Patrick Kabou dénonce une procédure inéquitable
In Rabat, concern is growing over the fate of 18 Senegalese nationals held in pretrial detention. While their trial is scheduled for February 12, procedural obstacles and a strike by Moroccan lawyers are casting serious doubt on the outcome of the case.
The legal climate surrounding this case is deteriorating. Defense lawyer Patrick Kabou is raising the alarm and denouncing a "total lack of guarantees of a fair trial" as well as a clear violation of the rights of the defense.
In a recent statement, the lawyer highlighted several serious malfunctions. He claims he still does not have access to the case file and is unable to communicate with his clients. Even more worrying, Mr. Kabou reports that he, like other citizens, is regularly prevented from entering the premises of the Rabat Court of First Instance.
Faced with these obstacles, the defense condemns a disregard for fundamental legal rules and is concerned to see these supporters deprived of their legal support at a time when their fate is to be decided before Moroccan justice.
