Supporters sénégalais condamnés au Maroc : Une médiation diplomatique en cours
Senegal's victory over Morocco in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final has had repercussions beyond the pitch. Eighteen Senegalese supporters have been sentenced to prison terms by Moroccan courts for incidents that occurred at the Rabat stadium during the final.
These supporters, who received sentences ranging from three months to one year in prison, chose not to appeal, denouncing the bias of the Moroccan justice system.
According to information shared by Wiwsport, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has decided to intervene in this situation by sending an official letter to King Mohammed VI to request a pardon for the convicted supporters.
The aim is to obtain a reduction of sentences while preserving diplomatic relations between Dakar and Rabat. This approach could transform the conflict into a gesture of clemency, if King Mohammed VI responds favorably.
