Plainte de Serigne Mboup : Papy Gaye et l’administrateur du site La Voix du Saloum déférés
Political tensions are escalating in the capital of Saloum. Papy Gaye, president of the "Le Réveil Kaolackois" movement, and Oumar Ndiaye, administrator of the news website La Voix du Saloum, were arrested yesterday, Thursday, by the Kaolack Research Brigade (BR).
According to Seneweb sources, they were brought before the High Court this Friday, respectively for defamation and complicity in defamation, following a complaint by Mayor Serigne Mboup.
Papy Gaye, who harbors political ambitions to lead the Kaolack town hall, allegedly made comments deemed defamatory against the current mayor. These statements, originating from the Le Réveil Kaolackois movement, were then relayed by the website La Voix du Saloum, thus implicating its administrator in the affair, according to information gathered by Seneweb.
Furthermore, as part of this procedure, Dakaractu's correspondent in Kaolack, Fallou Galass Sylla, was also summoned yesterday by the Gendarmerie Brigade under the leadership of Chief Warrant Officer Modou Ndiaye. The journalist was questioned, but was released after his hearing.
