Soupçon d’empoisonnement, crise d’hystérie et blessures sanglantes : un couple mixte devant la barre
On July 28, the case between Jean Louis Bernard, 76, and his wife Ndoumbé Mbow was brought before the district court for assault and battery. The plaintiff, in her twenties, is demanding 1,500,000 CFA francs in damages, claiming to have been the victim of domestic violence.
According to Ndoumbé Mbow, it all started with a warning from an acquaintance: "If you're not careful, your husband will poison you." One day, at lunchtime, her husband poured her a drink. She refused. Jean Louis Bernard insisted. Tensions mounted, and the words became more heated.
The defense's version is radically different. The accused's lawyer claims that his client, overcome by hysteria, kicked a glass door several times, injuring herself, before accusing her husband. "She told lies," says Abdoulaye Tall, who believes the case is based on accusations without material evidence.
Videos show the young woman kicking the door. Worse, she tries to grab her husband between the glass panes of the window. Both of their feet were bloodied. Each showed their videos to better support their defense. The court will decide on August 21.
