Affaire du "cadeau" au juge : Voici la peine et la lourde sanction financière qui frappent Cheikh Guéye et Hady Sy
The Dakar Magistrates' Court delivered its verdict this Friday in the corruption case at the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court. Entrepreneur Cheikh Guéye and his marabout, Hady Sy, were found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison, with six months to be served. In addition to this prison sentence, the court ordered each defendant to pay a fine of 10 million CFA francs.
The two men were being prosecuted on charges of conspiracy and corruption. This decision follows a particularly forceful indictment by the prosecution. Prosecutor Ka had indeed requested a two-year prison sentence, condemning an attempt to bribe a magistrate which, in his words, constituted an "insult to justice."
As a reminder, the events took place in mid-April 2026. Cheikh Guéye, who was wearing an electronic bracelet, was trying to get rid of it for a business trip. With the help of his marabout, Hady Sy, he requested a hearing with the judge of the 2nd chamber of Pikine-Guédiawaye. At the end of the meeting, the pair left an envelope containing 10 million FCFA on the judge's desk, presented as a simple gift. The magistrate refused to cover up the act and reported the incident, leading to their conviction today.
