B. Camara appeared before the Thiès court for violence and assault against his wife, F. Guèye.

In court, the victim explained that the incident stemmed from a simple argument. "He kicked me while I was sick," she stated. She claims that after this assault, her husband ordered her to leave the marital home, throwing her clothes outside before grabbing a pistol.

F. Guèye added that her husband had evicted her and their children. She also maintains that this violence was not the first time and that it was yet another episode in a series of abuses. She is therefore claiming 6 million FCFA in damages.

The defendant, B. Camara, denied the accusations of physical violence. He explained that his wife regularly compared him to her ex-husband or other men, which caused tension in their relationship.

He admitted that an argument had broken out that night, claiming she was ill and that her moaning was disturbing the other occupants of the house. According to him, when he pointed this out to her, she insulted him and his parents. However, he denies having laid a hand on her.

A. Dia, the victim's mother, testified in favor of her daughter. She stated that her daughter's health had deteriorated since her marriage and that she found no peace at home.

The public prosecutor considered that the facts were established and requested the application of the law.

The court ultimately found B. Camara guilty of violence and assault. He was fined 20,000 FCFA and ordered to pay 400,000 FCFA in damages to the plaintiff.
