Five individuals appeared before the court in Thiès for possession and use of Indian hemp. In court, they all admitted to the charges against them, thus facilitating the proceedings.
One of the defendants, MK, explained that he consumed the substance under the influence of euphoria following Senegal's victory in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. This justification, however, did not lessen the seriousness of the offense in the eyes of the court.
The five defendants finally asked the court for leniency and swore to never use drugs again.
The court has taken the case under advisement.
