THIÈS : Il tabasse une septuagénaire et simule la folie à la barre, le juge ordonne une expertise médicale
A. Dione, a woman over 70 years old, filed a police complaint against T. Dia for assault and battery. She attached a medical certificate attesting to a 15-day period of incapacity for work to her complaint. The young man was arrested and remanded in custody.
In the dock at the Thiès court, the 70-year-old woman stated that this was the third time T. Dia had assaulted her and threatened to kill her. "I filed a complaint before he took my life. This is the third time he has attacked me. The first time, he beat me so badly I had to be hospitalized. The second time, he brandished a knife to stab me, but I ran away. This time, he punched me repeatedly and injured me," A. Dione confided.
When questioned about these accusations, the defendant T. Dia behaved like a mentally deficient person and refused to answer, while continuing to threaten the complainant in front of the judge.
But the old woman clarified that T. Dia is not crazy: "He is feigning madness to escape justice. He is not crazy, because he has never assaulted his mother or father. He is simply undisciplined."
Despite the plaintiff's allegations, the judge ordered a medical examination to inquire into the defendant's mental health.
The hearing is therefore postponed to December 8, 2025.
