Thiès : Le styliste A. C. Guèye risque gros pour avoir agressé un Commissaire de police
Stylist AC Guèye faces a three-month prison sentence if the judge at the Thiès District Court follows the public prosecutor's indictment. Aged 31, he is being prosecuted for violence and assault against Captain Ndiassé Dioum, commissioner of the Parcelles-Assainies police station in Thiès. The incident took place on September 26, 2025. While Commissioner Dioum was on his way to a niece's funeral in a neighborhood of Thiès, he lost his bearings.
To find his way, he asked AC Guèye for directions in his vehicle, near the Grand-Thiès cemetery. The young man got into the vehicle to guide the commissioner to the funeral home. Along the way, AC Guèye called a friend on the phone to pick him up. It was then that Commissioner Dioum made it clear that there were already five people in the vehicle and that he could not take another passenger. But once he reached his friend, he asked to get out. The commissioner then asked his driver to comply, while informing him that his decision was incorrect. AC Guèye retorted to the commissioner that he was a dignified man and that he was not going to leave his friend stranded.
It was at this point that the commissioner revealed his identity, asking the young man to correct his language. But AC Guèye persisted in his behavior. And when the police captain approached him, AC Guèye grabbed him. The two men would have come to blows if passersby hadn't intervened. In front of the crowd, the young stylist began to shout and gesticulate. This is how Commissioner Dioum had him arrested for violence and assault. He was placed in custody.
This Monday, at the Thiès District Court, the defendant denied the accusations, although he admitted during the investigation that he had grabbed Commissioner Dioum following an altercation.
The decision is scheduled for October 13, 2025.
