Thiès : Pour avoir poignardé son adversaire, M. Ndiaye écope de deux mois de prison ferme
Mr. Ndiaye appeared in court on charges of assault and battery resulting in a 45-day period of temporary incapacity for work. He is accused of stabbing the victim, A. Mbaye, in the thigh and hand with a knife. The incident occurred in Thiès.
In court, the defendant denied using a bladed weapon. He explained that an altercation had occurred between him and the plaintiff following a dispute involving his older brother. According to his version of events, he did not possess a knife and claimed that the injuries were caused by a bottle he was holding during the fight.
The victim, A. Mbaye, confirmed that he had suffered serious injuries to his hand and thigh. Filing a civil suit, he claimed 300,000 CFA francs in damages for the harm he sustained.
For his part, the public prosecutor considered the facts to be consistent with the evidence in the case file and the arguments presented at the hearing. He requested a three-month prison sentence for the defendant.
Following deliberations, the judge sentenced Mr. Ndiaye to two months in prison. He will also have to pay the plaintiff 100,000 FCFA in damages.
