Tribunal de Dakar : Daba Mbodj alias « Gaindé Macky » condamnée…
APR activist Daba Mbodj, alias "Gaindé Macky", was tried this Friday before the Dakar court of flagrant offenses for speeches contrary to good morals and false accusation of an unnatural act.
Placed under arrest warrant on June 3, 2026, she had made insulting remarks against the president of the National Assembly Ousmane Sonko, leader of Pastef-Les Patriotes.
After being convicted for similar offenses, Daba Mbodj contested the charges against her. She explained that she had been reacting to attacks she claimed to have suffered on social media. Some Pastef activists allegedly called her a prostitute, which prompted her to make the incriminating remarks.
During the proceedings, the court screened excerpts from hearings and content in which the defendant accused the president of Pastef of having a close associate involved in an investigation into acts against nature.
Considering the facts sufficiently established, the public prosecutor requested a six-month prison sentence.
Assigning Daba Mbodj's defense, Maitre Oumar Youm requested leniency from the court, arguing that he does not condone the remarks he describes as hurtful.
In the end, the court found Daba Mbodj guilty of the charges against her and sentenced her to one month of imprisonment.
