Tribunal de Thiès : Un  septuagénaire fond  en larmes à la barre lors d’un procès l’opposant à son fils

Mr. Sall, a 23-year-old bricklayer, appeared before the Thiès court on charges of violence and assault against a parent. He is accused of verbally abusing his father, A. Sall, who is approximately 70 years old.

In court, the defendant admitted to the charges against him before asking for forgiveness from his father and the court, regretting his behavior.

The father explained that the incident stemmed from a minor disagreement. According to him, his son became violent and even attempted to assault him. The father clarified, however, that this was the first time his child had behaved this way towards him. He also mentioned the possibility of illicit substance use, which could have impaired the young man's judgment.

Visibly moved, the father broke down in tears on the stand, plunging the courtroom into a state of intense emotion.

Believing that the facts are established, the public prosecutor has requested the application of the law.

The judge found Mr. Sall guilty and sentenced him to two months in prison, suspended.
