Vol violent d’une Mercedes ML : Guissé et Pape Diass devant la Chambre criminelle, une peine de 10 demandée
The trial of Mor Mar Guissé, Pape Amadou Diouf (alias Pape Diass), and his girlfriend Mariama Diallo was held this Tuesday before the Dakar Criminal Court for a case of armed robbery committed at night with a weapon and a vehicle. The events date back to November 11, 2021, in Ouakam. That evening, the victim was returning home around 4:20 a.m. when she was intercepted by three individuals in a Ford Focus. Threatened and strangled with a knife, she was robbed of her Mercedes ML 350.
Reviewing the surveillance camera footage allowed investigators to identify the Ford Focus. The rental car had been registered to Mor Mar Guissé, a car salesman. When questioned, Guissé admitted to renting the vehicle but claimed he then lent it to Pape Diass, whom he described as a former customer.
Arrested shortly afterwards, Pape Diass gave a completely different version. He accused Guissé of being the planner, the one who knew the kingpins and who put him in contact with a certain Khadim Gueye, presented as a “regular at big-time heists”.
According to him, Guissé rented him the Ford Focus for 70,000 FCFA. Khadim came with him. They set off for Ouakam at 2:00 AM. That's how they spotted the victim's ML 350, which they followed into a dark alley. Khadim and Mor attacked and strangled the woman before stealing the Mercedes.
After the theft, they wanted to go to Guinea-Bissau to sell the vehicle. On the way, Khadim broke down in Gouloumbou and asked for 25,000 FCFA. Pape Diass recounts that he then asked his girlfriend, Mariama Diallo, for help, and she sent the money via her mother.
The group passed through several checkpoints before being stopped at Mpack, on the border. To try and get out, Pape Diass asked Mariama to pretend to be Mame Anta Diop, the owner of the stolen car. The young woman hesitated, then gave in before finally giving up under the persistent questioning of the police officers.
Suddenly, the group fled. Pape Diass discreetly returned to Dakar, where he was arrested.
In court, Mor Mar Guissé denied everything: “I am neither an aggressor nor a bandit. I am a family man, I run a parking lot. I don't associate with Amadou Diouf,” he insisted. As for Pape Diass, he maintained his accusations and the confession he made during the investigation. “Mor Mar instigated the theft. He's the one who put us in touch with Khadim,” he said. His girlfriend, Mariama Diallo, did not appear in court. When questioned by investigators, she admitted to sending the money and pretending to be the owner of the Kia, citing her “naiveté.”
In his closing argument, the public prosecutor deferred to the court's judgment regarding Mor Mar Guissé. However, the prosecutor requested a 10-year prison sentence and a fine of 500,000 FCFA for Pape Amadou Diouf, and a two-month prison sentence for Mariama Diallo.
On behalf of the plaintiff, Me Dabo requested 20 million FCFA in damages.
The defense lawyers, Mamadou Guèye, Souleymane Soumaré, and Abdou Ndingue, argued for a complete acquittal. The case was adjourned for deliberation until December 16, 2025.
