Alerte Météo ANACIM : Préparez les shorts et oubliez les pulls, l’hiver sera plus chaud que jamais !
Attention all those who love cool weather: the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) has just published its seasonal forecast for the period November 2025 – January 2026 (NDJ). The verdict? Senegal is about to experience a much warmer-than-normal winter, with temperatures well above the climatological averages.
The most alarming trend concerns the eastern half (including regions such as Podor, Matam, Ranérou, Bakel and Tambacounda) and the south (Kédougou, Kolda, Sédhiou, Ziguinchor).
These areas are expected to experience temperatures well above the seasonal norm. ANACIM draws attention to the Northeast, where heat peaks exceeding 40°C are considered likely.
In the rest of the country, including the Centre and the coastal area, temperatures are also expected to be slightly above normal, particularly in November and December.
However, on the northern coast (from Saint-Louis to Dakar), the heat is expected to be particularly uncomfortable. ANACIM explains that the persistence of residual post-winter humidity will accentuate the sensation of heat through the combined effect of temperature and humidity. Prepare for "sticky heat"!
The month-by-month detail
November 2025: This month is expected to be the hottest. Very high temperatures are expected across much of the country, with temperatures frequently exceeding 40°C in the east, south, and center. Even in the coastal area, highs are expected to exceed 35°C.
December 2025 – January 2026: The heat will persist across the country, although ANACIM predicts a gradual decline starting in January. This (relative) cooling will begin on the northern coast, before gradually spreading towards the center.
ANACIM calls on populations to be vigilant and to prepare for persistent heat conditions, particularly in the eastern and southern regions.
