Guinée : Polémique autour du concert de Sidiki Diabaté
In Guinea, a controversy has been stirring up the cultural world for the past few days. Sidiki Diabaté, a famous Malian singer, has scheduled a concert in the country for April 25th. However, it so happens that on the same date, another show is taking place by Espoirs de Coronthie, an iconic urban music group from Guinea.
On social media, music lovers, torn between anger and incomprehension, are wondering how two concerts could have been scheduled for the same date.
They do not have "authorization from the Guinean Performing Arts Agency"
The Guinean Agency for Performing Arts (AGS) was quick to react, clarifying the situation and making a decision. According to its deputy director general, Boubacar Diallo, Sidiki Diabaté's team did not obtain the necessary authorization to organize the concert on April 25th. The event will therefore be postponed.
“The Espoirs de Coronthie concert is scheduled for April 25th. As for Sidiki Diabaté’s concert, the organizers wanted to offer something new in Guinea, which is perfectly understandable. However, they failed to follow the required procedure, specifically obtaining authorization from the Guinean Performing Arts Agency. Consequently, their event will be postponed. Officially, we have not authorized Sidiki Diabaté’s concert for April 25th,” Mr. Diallo explained to Africaguinée.
He points out that concerts cannot be improvised. A minimum of three months is required to officially validate events of this scale in Guinea.
