« Un Premier ministre qui veut assumer sans occuper le poste, Un président...» : Thiat charge le duo exécutif
Rapper Thiat makes a powerful statement with his new track titled "Son de redressemenT" (Sound of Recovery). Through this politically charged song released on Wednesday, May 20th, the artist paints a bleak picture of the political, economic, and social situation in Senegal, launching numerous criticisms against the authorities.
In this track, Thiat refers to a "President who occupies the position without fulfilling the role" and a "Prime Minister who wants to assume the role without actually doing the job," in a clear allusion to the workings of the executive branch. The rapper also denounces youth unemployment, which he considers one of the country's main problems.
The artist believes that several sectors are struggling and accuses the government of being "populist." He particularly criticizes the agricultural campaign, which he describes as "catastrophic," while also mentioning deep discontent among the population.
In his text, Thiat also questions the current governance approach of the authorities, wondering whether the country is moving towards "Vision 2050" or simply a "recovery plan." He also cites rising unemployment, union strikes, and the health, university, and school crises.
The Keur Gui member also spoke of "anger in rural areas" and revisited the ASER case, calling on the justice system to be transparent in this matter. According to him, the authorities are making a lot of speeches without taking concrete action.
The rapper also denounces layoffs, evictions "without alternative," "lies," "manipulation," "pressure," and "oppression." He also addresses sensitive topics such as the role of the National Assembly, the issue of homosexuality, and the presence of the head of state on the High Council of the Judiciary.
Later in the song, Thiat criticizes access to information, audits, and investigation reports, which he claims are not being passed on to the justice system. He also denounces a "justice system with double standards," "political arrests," and asserts that "accountability has become a settling of scores," even referring to "puppet magistrates," among other things.
