Présidence de l’ANPS : Abdoulaye Thiam reconduit
Unsurprisingly, Abdoulaye Thiam has been reappointed to the helm of the Senegalese National Sports Press Association (ANPS) for a third term. The outgoing president, the only candidate in the running for reelection, agreed to continue his commitment at the helm of the organization for a term described as a transitional one at the general election this Saturday.
However, during a meeting of the Executive Committee (Comex), Abdoulaye Thiam had expressed his desire to hand over, but he ended up accepting the wishes of his colleagues who appointed him for a new mandate.
"I had stated my decision not to be a candidate. But I was asked to serve a new term, which would be a transitional term. I accepted this unconditionally," he said.
This renewal is part of a context of progressive renewal of the ANPS, with a stated desire to involve more of the young generation of sports journalists.
"Today, there are many young people who want to serve the association. This is what motivated me to continue my work," said Abdoulaye Thiam, emphasizing the importance of preparing for the organization's future.
