RTS : Les travailleurs dénoncent des conditions de travail “indignes” et réclament la restauration de leurs acquis
Workers at the Senegalese Radio and Television Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), organized within the SYNPAP and SYNPICS unions, held a press conference this Monday, December 29, 2025, in front of the public broadcaster's headquarters. Wearing red armbands, they expressed profound social discontent, denouncing a situation they described as "dramatic." "We are no longer living, we are merely surviving. We are suffocating," the visibly distressed employees emphasized.
For them, RTS, once seen as a jewel of public service, has become a "gilded cage where one works with a broken heart, in permanent anguish".
Wages reduced and benefits suspended
At the heart of the demands is the brutal reduction in wages following the suspension of the company agreement that had been in place for more than twenty years.
According to the union representatives, this agreement, which should have been renegotiated a long time ago, has been applied for 21 years with salaries calculated on the cost of living of 2005.
"Since the advent of the new regime, only RTS workers have seen their salaries reduced. This is unprecedented and inhumane," denounced Alioune Badara Kane, head of demands for SYNPICS/RTS, speaking under the authorization of Secretary General Youssouf Kaba.
The agents point out that in trade union law, an acquired right cannot be touched, even less so the salary considered "sacred".
Social and psychological distress
According to them, the consequences of this situation are serious: bank debt, inability to provide for family needs, difficulties with transportation, cancellation of catering and growing psychological distress.
"There are depressed workers at RTS today. Right now, we need the intervention of a psychologist, because what is happening here is extremely serious," warned Alioune Badara Kane.
Some employees claim they can no longer afford transportation, bank loan repayments, and significant family expenses. "A Senegalese worker feeds at least fifteen people," he points out.
Criticized management and call for an audit
RTS workers also denounce opaque management of the structure and demand the intervention of state control bodies to audit certain practices, particularly around the organization of the CAN Village at Place de la Nation.
They point to what they describe as nepotism, as well as a lack of dialogue, listening, and humanism on the part of their director general, Pape Alé Niang. "He doesn't even greet his colleagues. He doesn't prioritize dialogue or consultation," criticizes Mama Moussa Niang, journalist and coordinator of SYNPAP at RTS.
They are also outraged to see managers maintain, or even increase, their salaries while employees are making sacrifices.
"For two years, Pape Alé Niang has been asking us to wait. We have waited for two whole years. He talked to us about rationalization, recovery, hidden debt, among other things. He has made us wait ever since, and during this time he is earning a good living, receiving his salary of 5.6 million, jetting from one place to another at the expense of the workers who have seen their salaries reduced, who find themselves with derisory wages, who are losing their dignity. It is selfish, it is inhumane, and it must stop. We can no longer continue to live with this situation in indifference," explains Mama Moussa Niang.
Press conference prevented from taking place at RTS
Another point raised was the refusal by the RTS General Management to allow the press conference to be held inside the RTS premises.
According to the union representatives, access was blocked by security forces, preventing journalists from entering to cover the press conference which was eventually held in front of the RTS premises.
An appeal to the highest authorities
Faced with this toxic atmosphere, the workers solemnly call upon the President of the Republic, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, and the Minister of Communication to intervene. "RTS does not belong to Pape Alé Niang. It is a national asset, a public service," they remind everyone.
The union representatives are demanding the immediate lifting of the suspension of the company agreement, the restoration of all social benefits (company agreements, Tabaski advances, school allowances, catering benefits, and more humane and transparent management). “We are not begging for anything, we are demanding our rights.”
For the first time in its history, RTS employees have taken to the streets. This is something the staff describe as unprecedented, shameful, and indicative of a deep-seated problem.
"Behind the sets and the smiles on the air are the fatigue, the suffering and the hardship of the workers. Let the Senegalese know this, let the authorities know this. The workers of RTS are suffering," they concluded.

Pastef c’est des ignorants incultes et indisciplinés, dont les plus nantis intellectuellement ont obtenu un baccaureat litteraire avec à peine 10 de moyenne et ont suivi des formations bidons sans aucun critère d'excellence. Dans un système sélectif et méritocratique, les plus chanceux d'entre eux ne pourraient prétendre à plus qu'un poste de femme de ménage ou de vigile d'officine. Cette bande de cancres ne comprend rien d’un état et se contente de faire allégeance à Sonko. Ce régime a battu le record mondial dans la nomination de personnes intellectuellement limitées à des postes de Directeur, de PCA, et de PCS. Jamais dans l’histoire du Sénégal des cancres aussi vides n’ont été nommés en si grand nombre. Du moment que les nominations ne répondent à aucune exigence de compétence, d’excellence, de parcours académique ni d’expérience professionnelle, n’importe quel saltimbanque se voit dans un costume de directeur ou de PCA en se disant pourquoi l’autre et pas moi étant donné que nous sommes tous d’égal médiocrité. Voilà ce qui crée un gang de frustrés, qui alimentent les discours haineux et séparatistes dans les réseaux sociaux. Rien ne marche dans aucun domaine et certains pensent que ce sont les finances publiques qui sont en difficulté mais non, la vérité c’est qu’ils ont nommé des nullards partout et ils ne peuvent rien faire
Les universités se fondent sur ces classements pour sélectionner les étudiants qui possèdent les aptitudes nécessaires pour suivre des enseignements exigeants, en fonction du niveau de réflexion et de vivacité d’esprit requis. Ainsi, certaines universités exigent des étudiants ayant des moyennes supérieures à 16 dans une série scientifique à dominante mathématique pour accéder, par exemple, à certaines formations d’ingénieurs destinées à former les leaders de demain. Dans le monde du recrutement, les entreprises sérieuses suivent la même logique.
Malheureusement, lorsque les Pastefiens sont arrivés au pouvoir, leur premier slogan a été de dire qu’on n’a pas besoin de grandes études ni de diplôme pour diriger. Ils ont ainsi défié une logique appliquée partout dans le monde, en se permettant de nommer n’importe qui à n’importe quel poste, sans tenir compte des limites intellectuelles pourtant révélées par les parcours scolaires.
On se retrouve alors, dans plusieurs entreprises, avec des directeurs dont le parcours scolaire est marqué par un niveau situé au bas de l’échelle, ayant suivi, dans l’enseignement supérieur, des formations sans véritable contenu et présentant, par conséquent, de graves insuffisances intellectuelles. Jusqu’à l’extinction du soleil, ils ne pourront impulser aucune idée capable de faire avancer les entreprises qui leur ont été confiées.
Voilà le pétrin dans lequel Pastef nous a plongés
Racine Talla a attendu son depart pour signer une convention collective que la RTS n'a pas les moyens de supporter comme Cheikh Kante a attendu son depart au Port pour embaucher.
Je ne suis pas avec Pape Alle Niang mais il a le courage de denoncer a son arrivee, la revalorisation des salaires faite par l'ancien DG.
Les syndicalistes divulguent son salaire. Et si Pape Alle en faisait de meme en publiant le salaire et autres avantages des syndicalistes?
Voilà le paradoxe PASTEF. Le seul salaire excessif à la RTS, c'est le sien.

Ils n'ont qu'à faire la grève s'ils ne sont pas contents. La RTS peur cesser d'émettre et les Sénégalais s'en ficheraient.
