Décès de Thierno Diagne Ba : A Dieu l’homme de culture!
The Senegalese cultural scene is in mourning. Thierno Diagne Ba, a cultural facilitator, specialist in cultural and creative industries, and planner, passed away on Friday in Dakar following an illness. An official with the Ministry of Culture, Crafts, and Tourism, he leaves behind an intellectual and professional legacy that has profoundly impacted the sector.
Formerly with the Directorate of Cinematography and Arts, Thierno Diagne Ba had been made available to the Organizing Committee of the Youth Olympic Games (COJOJ), where he distinguished himself by his expertise and professionalism in the design and implementation of the artistic and cultural program of the event.
A visionary, he advocated for a culture at the service of humanity, considering cultural and creative industries as a major driver of development and a tool for combating youth unemployment. His now-legendary statement was: "Any development project that lacks a cultural dimension will lack humanity."
Through his struggles and ideas, he leaves behind the image of a passionate, rigorous man deeply attached to Senegalese identity. His passing is an immense loss, but his advocacy for a vibrant and innovative culture remains a guiding light for future generations.
