Senegal's victory over Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals sparked a wave of enthusiasm among both fans and celebrities in the stands. Among them was Franco-Senegalese actor Omar Sy, a passionate football fan, who made no secret of his joy after the Lions' 1-0 win, secured by a decisive goal from Sadio Mané.
Known for his love of football, close to Thierry Henry and a loyal supporter of Olympique de Marseille, Omar Sy traveled to Tangier to support the Senegalese national team. Already deeply involved since the start of the tournament, he didn't hesitate to share this historic moment with the players after the match.
Accompanied by former French international Bafétimbi Gomis and Senegalese legends El Hadj Diouf, Mamadou Niang, and Khalilou Fadiga, the actor was granted access to the locker room. This warm visit was captured in an immersive video released by the Senegalese Football Federation.
No sooner had Omar Sy entered the locker room than he was greeted by an explosion of joy. Very expressive, he applauded Pape Bouna Thiaw's men at length, celebrating their qualification for a third final in the last four editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
"Thank you guys!" he exclaimed emotionally, showering everyone with hugs and congratulations, especially Iliman Ndiaye and several key players. It was a genuine moment of camaraderie that strengthened the family spirit within the Senegalese squad.
Although the actor has not officially confirmed his presence for the final scheduled for this Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat, everything suggests that he will once again be there to support the players in their quest for another continental title.
The match could also see the presence of Jamel Debbouze, a longtime friend of Omar Sy. The comedian, a fervent supporter of Morocco, was already spotted at the tournament's opening match. The two friends could therefore reunite in the stands for what promises to be a historic final.
