«Je refuse qu'ils montent deux femmes noires l'une contre l'autre» : Naomi Campbell balaye les rumeurs de conflit avec Rihanna
Naomi Campbell, who was snubbed by Rihanna during the last New York Fashion Week, nevertheless wanted to deny the rumors of a falling out with her.
In early September, a video quickly went viral on social media during New York Fashion Week. At the Alaïa show for the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 collection, Rihanna and Naomi Campbell were filmed in a scene where the former appeared to ignore the latter. Seated in the front row, Naomi Campbell watched Rihanna greet Edward Enninful, the former editor-in-chief of British Vogue, before walking past her without a glance. Rumors of a falling out between the two American icons quickly spread. "They must really hate each other"; "Naomi gives her a killer look," were among the comments under the video of this frosty exchange.
On September 21st, Naomi Campbell addressed the situation in an interview with the New York Times. Annoyed by the extent of the speculation, the supermodel firmly rejected the idea of a conflict between them. "I'm not going to let the world pit two Black women against each other," she declared. To definitively put an end to these rumors, she added, "We are two women with children, we are mothers."
Dangerous Liaison
Naomi Campbell and Rihanna used to seem very close, often photographed together at parties, sharing moments of camaraderie. In 2016, they were even spotted in Italy, smiling and supportive of each other. However, their relationship reportedly took a turn in 2017 when Rihanna allegedly began an affair with Hassan Jameel, a man supposedly connected to Naomi. Since then, the two women have drifted apart, unfriending each other on social media, and opportunities to see them together have become rare. When they do cross paths, they now seem to ignore each other.
