«Jouer sa propre mort» : Carmen se confie

The tragic death of Carmen's character in the series "Fassema" shocked Senegalese viewers, as well as the actress who plays her, Maïmouna Fall. In a sequence of rare intensity, the heroine succumbs to a clandestine abortion. She had to act out her own death, lying inert amid the authentic cries and tears of her co-stars.

Behind the fiction, the experience was harrowing and unbearable. In an interview with L'Observateur, the actress confided that she felt indescribable pain hearing the tears of her colleagues around her, to the point of projecting herself into real life, thinking of her mother and daughter. "I would never want to replay a sequence like that again," she said, still marked by this emotional immersion.

The interviewee for the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group also revealed that she had recently rekindled a wound: "I lost my uncle, and we went to the morgue. It was already very difficult to live with, but it was while filming this scene that I really became aware of what death represents."

For the production company EvenProd, this ending wasn't just a plot twist: it carried a powerful message of awareness against the dangers of illegal abortion. Carmen thus becomes the symbol of these women swept away by an irreversible decision.

Beyond the pain, Maïmouna Fall remembers the strength of the "family" bonds forged on set: "From the director to the technicians, including the actors, we form a united family. At mealtimes, we all sit together around the same bowl. This warm atmosphere allows us to perform without pressure, and it shows on screen."

In conclusion, the actress finds the ultimate meaning of her role in its social impact: "If, through Carmen, just one person reflects, just one person chooses life... then this role will have had meaning."
