Polémique de Mboro : Mia Guissé brise le silence
At the heart of a heated controversy following her performance in Mboro, artist Mia Guissé is not shying away from the debate. During the concert, a sequence involving a young man invited on stage ignited social media. The close gestures and choreography, deemed suggestive by some, quickly circulated and reignited criticism of the singer's daring style, as reported by L'Observateur.
"No provocation"
Far from shying away from the controversy, Mia Guissé, quoted in the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias, accepts her share of responsibility. She explains that her intention was never to offend, but to share the energy and emotion of the scene:
"First of all, I want to say that I never intended to hurt anyone. If some images were shocking, I understand and I respect that."
For her, each performance is a total immersion: "On stage, I give myself completely, I'm in the moment and I'm sharing. I experience the music with my body and my heart to move my audience, never to shock them. But I know that this forces me to think about the image I project."
Listening in the face of criticism
Aware of the scrutinizing scrutiny she faces because of her background and previous controversies, including the Jamra organization's complaint for "offending public morals," Mia emphasizes the importance of separating her stage image from her personal life as a woman, mother, and family member.
"When you're such a high-profile artist, you can't ignore the reactions. Some criticism is harsh, some constructive, and I listen to them to refocus."
She continues: “My career path means I’m constantly scrutinized; every gesture is amplified. This requires me to be more vigilant. [...] Behind the artist, there is a woman with values, a mother, a sister, and a daughter. What my loved ones and my audience see of me is essential. The image on stage doesn’t reflect who I am in real life.”
