«100 ans de Wade» : une ville se démarque
Senegal is preparing a national tribute to mark the 100th birthday of Abdoulaye Wade. Originally scheduled for May 29th, his birthdate, the festivities have been postponed to June 4th and 5th. Alongside the national program, Kébémer, the former head of state's hometown, is preparing its own celebration. The announcement was made by the town's mayor, Lamine Thiam, on the Radio Senegal International program "En vérité" (In Truth). According to the newspaper L'Observateur, Thiam suggested that this planned mobilization reflects the "central role Wade played in the democratic evolution of the country" he led from 2000 to 2012.
