On the eve of the commemoration of the 18th anniversary of the passing of Serigne Saliou Mbacké, Antoine Félix Abdoulaye Diome, the former Minister of the Interior, paid a poignant tribute to the late spiritual guide of the Mouride community.
In an emotional message posted on social media, Antoine Félix Diome expressed all the admiration he has for the memory of Serigne Saliou Mbacké, who passed away 18 years ago.
The former minister praised the man he considers a spiritual guide of rare stature, whose teachings continue to illuminate the path of the faithful.
"A spiritual guide of rare stature, he bequeathed to the community a teaching deeply rooted in righteousness, humility, love of work and constancy in the worship of Allah," the magistrate wrote.
For Antoine Félix Diome, Serigne Saliou Mbacké remains much more than a simple marabout. He represents a true moral and spiritual reference, a compass for all those who aspire to sincerely follow the path laid out by Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the founder of Mouridism.

In his message, Antoine Félix Diome also offered fervent prayers for the deceased religious leader. "O Allah SWT, in Your infinite mercy, grant him Your bounty, illuminate his abode and further elevate his rank among Your chosen ones. Amen," he implored.
The Mouride community is preparing to celebrate, this Sunday, December 28, 2025, the 18th anniversary of the passing of Serigne Saliou Mbacké, the fifth Caliph General of the Mourides. This commemoration will be an opportunity for followers and supporters to reflect on the memory of this man who left his mark on the history of Mouridism through his piety, wisdom, and devotion to the teachings of the founding Sheikh.

Le jeu d'Antoine Diome me rappelle la stratégie d'Ali Ngouille Ndiaye qui a cherché à revenir avantageusement sur la scène politique en mêlant son nom et celui du khalif général actuel des mourides dans la libération du soldat en Casamance.
S'ils pouvaient tout simplement, ces politiciens, se dire que ceux qui les suivent sont, pour beaucoup, des gens intelligents, cela leur éviterait d'être ridicules en faisant le malin avec des sorties ostensiblement intéressées.
