Abdourahmane Diouf : « Nous ne pouvons pas nous accommoder de la justice des vainqueurs ni d’un parti-État »
Abdourahmane Diouf warned against any drift towards a one-party state and selective justice in Senegal. He made this statement during a meeting of the Council of Leaders of the Diomaye President coalition, held this Saturday at the King Fahd Palace. For him, the Republic cannot be confused with the interests of a political party. "We cannot accept a one-party state or a one-party state. There is only one thing that must guide us: the Republic," he affirmed.
The politician also stressed the need to preserve institutional balance and respect for constitutional principles. According to him, despite the presence of numerous actors claiming to defend institutions, only one guiding principle should prevail: the Constitution. "There are many guardians in this country, but we only recognize one: the guardian of the Constitution," he declared.
Addressing the issue of justice, Abdourahmane Diouf rejected the idea of "victor's justice," arguing that the judicial system must remain at the service of all citizens and not of any political camp. "We cannot accept victor's justice. We are not a nation of grudge-holders. Justice is there for the people. No single person should presume to judge others, to decide who are good, bad, or murderers," he maintained.
In the same address, he also discussed the President's stance, describing him as a statesman capable of restraint and tolerance. According to him, the Head of State was able to "absorb and endure calmly," demonstrating a republican attitude and great tolerance in the face of political tensions.
