ACHAT DE VÉHICULES DES DÉPUTÉS : Un membre de Pastef met en cause la transparence dans l'acquisition
Since yesterday, the purchase of vehicles for members of parliament has sparked controversy. Cheikh Diaw, a member of Pastef, questions the transparency of the acquisition. "I'm not going to dwell on the purchase of the vehicles; it's a fact. The Speaker of the National Assembly took responsibility for this purchase. He stated it and he did it, but without the public knowing how much it cost us, or especially how the contract was awarded," he said, expressing his concern.
What is certain, according to him, is that some have become billionaires thanks to this purchase, without any transparency: "Who saw the call for tenders? Who won the contract? How much did the transport cost us? Who is the broker in this operation? And how much did he receive, since there was no call for tenders?"
For this member of Pastef, the most astounding thing remains the way they justify themselves. "To say that we 'opted for transparency' and that, consequently, it is normal that people ask so many questions, as if transparency were an option. No. Transparency is not an option. It is an obligation," he confides.
Cheikh Diaw continued: "Today, we are given a smug little smile, accompanied by banal justifications, playing the superhero in the chamber. But know one thing: one day, you will realize it. And all these questions will resurface."
He believes that every regime has its future prisoners. Indeed, he advises this government to think carefully. "Senegal is a Republic with thousands of oversight bodies. Today, they may be favorable to us, sometimes elbowing their way in, sometimes blindfolded, because we hold power. But one day… If you have any doubts, ask our friends in the ruling party, or the former all-powerful Karim Wade, or even Macky, the former president, who no longer dares to set foot on Senegalese soil," warns Cheikh Diaw.
