Affaire des 8 milliards F CFA de Bakel : le Forum civil s’en mêle
In its statement entitled "The test of transparency in the governance of public affairs", and relayed by Les Échos, the Civil Forum calls on the government to shed light on the 8 billion CFA francs intended for the victims of the floods caused in 2024, in particular by the overflowing of the Senegal River, in the departments of Bakel, Matam and Podor.
Despite Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko's announcement and the confirmation from the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Dièye, that the funds had been transferred to the rightful recipients, the mayor of Ballou and the residents of Bakel are contesting the receipt of these funds. The Forum emphasizes the need to inform the Senegalese people about the "use and destination" of the money.
